- Developing computational methods to define the genomics, proteomics, and evolution of cancers in children and young adults.

- Investigated the role of homologous recombination in microbial genome evolution using bioinformatics, computational biology, and population genetics.
- Applied a combination of bioinformatic, computational biology, and biophysical approaches to study how microbes use diversification mechanisms (i.e., stochastic switching and recombination) to adapt to fluctuating environments.
